Piping: Once the piping is assembled and the chemical cryogen curing process begins, it is absolutely necessary to prevent joint stress or any movement. This rule applies whether the pipe is assembled in the trench or out of the trench.
Pipe laying: If the pipe is assembled outside the trench, it can be moved into the trench after sufficient curing time has been allocated. However, the pipe must not be rolled or dropped into the trench. Instead, already joined pipes should be gently lowered into place in the ground with support.
Backfill: Although CPVC has excellent abrasion resistance, we recommend backfill that is rock-free and ½ inch particle size or less. Cover the pipe with 6-8 inches of backfill. Then, compact the backfill with vibration or water injection.
